Blue and Green Fund

Blue and Green Fund

At Harford Day School, we are fortunate to enjoy a culture of giving and support, providing us with vital financial resources every independent school needs to thrive and grow.

Since the founding of our school in 1957, generations of parents, trustees, alumni, grandparents, faculty and friends have contributed to Harford Day with a spirit of generosity that makes us proud.

Tax-deductible gifts to the Blue and Green Fund:
  • support faculty salaries
  • promote individual opportunities for our students in all divisions
  • add technology to classrooms
  • contribute to financial assistance
  • give our school the leading edge in educational excellence.
Throughout our school’s history, our message remains the same: we ask that the first gift that you make to Harford Day each year be a gift or pledge to the Annual Fund. Harford Day's strong tradition of philanthropy strengthens the school today and ensures the promise of tomorrow. Our priority remains the same: funding the faculty and programs which support our mission, so by doing this we provide opportunities for each student to develop their strengths while exploring new interests.  Our hope is that all members of the community will participate to the best of their ability.

  • What is the Blue and Green Fund?

The Blue and Green Fund is Harford Day’s most important ongoing fundraising activity, raising over $350,000 each year. This Fund helps provide for the same items covered in the budget: teacher salaries, classroom supplies, special programs, arts, athletics, technology, field studies, and more.

The entire cost of a Harford Day education is not covered by tuition and fees. The school asks every family to support the Blue and Green Fund at a level that represents their pride in being part of the Harford Day community and appropriate to their family budget.
  • Who gives to the Blue and Green Fund?

Members of the Harford Day community (parents, alumni, faculty, grandparents, and friends) make unrestricted donations each year that go directly into our annual operating budget. Faculty and Board of Trustees for the past several years have had 100% participation levels in the Blue and Green Fund.
  • What is a leadership gift?

Leadership gifts are those of $1,000 or more. Gifts of every size make a difference, and every gift is appreciated. Class participation levels are measured each year and are very important to the success of the Blue and Green Fund each year.
  • How are gifts recognized?

Harford Day values your support! Every year, we recognize our donors in our Annual Report, both by group membership (parents, alumni or grandparents, for example) and giving level. Specific gift amounts are never listed.

Donors making gifts in honor or memory of a teacher, a family member or someone special are listed in the Annual Report along with the name of their designee.
  • As a parent, I give my time as a volunteer. Why does the school also ask me to give to the Blue and Green Fund

Your volunteer efforts are very important to Harford Day and very much appreciated. The strong partnership we share with our parents is one of our greatest assets. As a volunteer, you get the chance to see first-hand the educational advantages Harford Day provides. By making a gift to the Blue and Green Fund you are helping to maintain and further those standards of excellence.
