Preschool (Pre-K 4) Long term Substitute Teacher (12/1/25-2/27/26)

Harford Day School - an independent, co-ed, PreK 3 - 8th Grade school located in Bel Air, Maryland (Harford County) - is seeking a full-time Preschool (Pre-K 4) Long term substitute teacher from December 1, 2025 thru February 27, 2026. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; coursework in Early Childhood Education strongly encouraged.
  • MSDE Preschool Teacher Certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow classroom plans and maintain documentation as directed by the Preschool team.

Job Expectations

The Preschool Substitute Teacher supports the learning environment by ensuring continuity of care and instruction in the absence of the classroom teacher. Responsibilities include:
  • Provide supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children aged 4–5 years at all times.
  • Follow the classroom teacher’s themes, curricular goals/learning objectives, and routines to maintain a consistent learning environment
  • Engage students in developmentally appropriate lessons, activities, and projects as outlined by the Preschool team.
  • Collaborate with Preschool teachers and assistants as needed to support classroom management and student learning.
  • Enforce school policies in a supportive, tactful, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and professionalism in responding to the needs of the classroom.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude that bring credit to the School.
  • Adhere to the responsibilities and expectations outlined in the HDS Faculty Handbook.
  • Maintain an appropriate online and social media presence.
