Capital Campaigns

Occasionally, Harford Day School undertakes capital campaigns to fund initiatives that have a long-term impact on the institution. In the past, these campaigns have funded building projects, including a new classroom wing and field house (1989-1991), a new kindergarten building (1994-1995), a middle school building (1998-2000), and a new health suite and renovated front offices (2003 - 2005).

Our Current Campaign: Building Today, Ensuring Tomorrow

In 2007, Harford Day School began our largest campaign to date with the Building Today, Ensuring Tomorrow, Campaign for Harford Day School. As we begin a new school year in 2009, the school has thus far raised $2.8 million of our $3 million dollar goal. Solicitations will continue this fall and into the winter months. Pledges may be paid over a five-year period.

The goal of this ongoing campaign has been two-fold; to raise funds to build a science wing, and to increase the school's endowment. As the campaign is entering its third year, our campaign has met with tremendous success, thanks to the many generous donors in our community. As a result of our campaign efforts, Harford Day School built a 12,600 square foot addition which opened just in time for the 2008-2009 school year. Constructed adjacent to the field house, this modern two-story facility includes two science classrooms with labs, a spacious English classroom, a counselors' office, an elevator, a large multi-purpose room with a performance stage for smaller audiences, and a gallery. Geo-thermal heating and cooling are integrated into this new space and will aid in our efforts to maintain a green school environment. Naming opportunities are available; interested parties are invited to contact the Office of Advancement for further details.5205_115949_0.jpg
The second part of this campaign has been a special effort to raise money for our endowment fund, which supports financial aid and faculty professional development. Those interested in more information about contributing to the school's endowment are invited to contact the Office of Advancement. Over $400,000 were added to the school's endowment during the 2007-2008 school year.

In recognition of the generosity of our donors to this special campaign, a unique and beautiful donor wall was designed and installed by Paul '75 and Tracy Lyon of Lyon Clay Studios. The wall, pictured on this page, features ceramic tiles representing various aspect of life in and around the Chesapeake Bay. Donors who pledge $5,000 or more will own a tile in the mural and will be able to choose the theme for their tile.  For more information, please contact Office of Advancement.
