Financial Aid
Harford Day School provides financial assistance to many families who are not able to pay the full tuition. There is a limited amount of aid available, so not all requests for financial aid can be granted, but the school seeks to meet 100% of the demonstrated need. The financial aid committee determines the amount of need based upon a review of the applicant's financial circumstances.
Financial Aid Application Procedure: • Request a financial aid packet from the Office of Admission or visit NAIS . The packet will include a parents' financial statement (PFS) form produced by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and is used by most independent schools to assess qualification for need-based financial assistance. The same process may be completed online at the above secure web address. (The process for 2010/2011 opens on November 15, 2009.)
• Complete your tax returns as soon as possible.
• Complete the PFS and submit it directly to SSS.
• Provide the Office of Admission with a copy of your tax return.
• Beginning in early March, the Financial Aid Committee will review competed forms.
• Financial aid awards are made on a rolling basis, so it is in every applicant's interest to submit the information as soon as possible.
• Applicants are notified of awards via mail.
Financial Aid statistics for 2008-2009: • Nineteen percent of students receive some form of financial aid.
• The average award was $5,500.
